NEITHER STILL NOR MOVING: MAKING GIFs

In this workshop, students will learn to create their very own GIFs (graphics interchange format). Their teacher will inspire them to find and follow a unique gesture. From there, students will go in a creative direction, creating stills and animating them as they dive into the world of GIFs. Students will leave with new skills in creating moving images (and not-so-moving images!) in the form of their own unique GIFs.

FROM A TO ZINES: DIY ZINE MAKING WORKSHOP

What's a zine?! Short for magazine or fanzine, a zine is a homemade publication that is all about self-expression and creativity. In this class, students will learn the ABC's of zine production. In addition to learning several techniques for binding and folding paper into small books, students will briefly discuss the origins of zines and complete two projects, one as a group and one individually. The first is a collaborative zine based on a theme they will choose as a group. The second project will be an individual zine they will reproduce so they can trade with all their new friends. By the end of the course, students will get to take home a zine from everyone in the class, starting their very own zine collection. No previous experience required!
